LatinX in Animation (LXiA) announced its animation programming for the 22nd edition of the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF). This year’s animation program is back and better than ever as LXiA’s events will be embedded throughout the entirety of LALIFF, both in-person and virtually.

LALIFF with open with Searchlight Pictures' Flamin' Hot, directed by Eva Longoria, and close with A24's Problemista, written and directed by Julio Torres. More than 80 films, 19 world premieres, 100 Youth Cinema Project student films, an expanded industry program, and 15 music performances will be part of the 22nd Edition of LALIFF.

LatinX in Animation (LXiA) is excited to announce its first-ever Animation Day as part of the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival‘s 20th edition. Co-founded in 1997 by actor, director and producer Edward James Olmos, LALIFF is a high-profile event that showcases the talents and perspectives of Latinx filmmakers from all over the world.

Worlds of wonder have materialized in every frame of animated productions for a century, but it’s only in recent years that these realms — and the people who conjure them up — have begun to reflect a wider spectrum of racial and ethnic identities, cultures and lived experiences.

In November 2021, LatinX in Animation (LXiA), a signature program under the Latino Film Institute (LFI), announced its first-ever LXiA Spark Animation Grant.

OIAF 21 runs online September 22 – October 3 featuring the most popular events of the live festival, including the Official Competition and Panorama screenings showcasing the best new animated films from around the world.

For 2019, LALIFF is adding an animation master class to tap into a medium where Latinx creators are gaining prominence, and it’s focusing its sights on Latinx works, those conceived by U.S.-born or -raised artists with Latin American roots.

The Latino Film Institute, the 20th Edition of the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF), will welcome its first-ever Animation Day on Friday, June 4. This unique industry day has a packed line-up of exclusive premieres, panel discussions, an animated shorts contest, and master classes. Organizing the event is one of Latino Film Institute’s signature programs, LatinX in Animation (LXiA).

The full lineup for this year’s Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) has been released. The festival is set to take place June 2 – 6 with both in-person and virtual screenings.

At least one Los Angeles film festival isn’t letting a global pandemic prevent it from showcasing the work of Latino artists. Instead, it’s going virtual. On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival announced LALIFF Connect. The free, online festival will allow quarantined viewers to stream feature films, shorts, episodics, masterclasses and live music on LALIFF’s website.

The Women in Animation (WIA) 2021 spring mentorship program will be taking applications starting March 31, with a special focus on mentoring women of color through its Mentor Circles series.
